About TravelPlaner

Journey planners answer “what is the fastest way?”. When you have a flight, an exam or a job interview, the better question is “which option gets me there on time, and when do I have to leave?” TravelPlaner answers that from the real track record of the buses, trams and trains involved.

What it does

• Starts from where you are and suggests the stops around you.
• Puts the fastest and the most reliable journeys side by side.
• Tells you the chance of arriving on time, how much buffer to allow, and when to leave.
• Explains each estimate in plain words, and says so when the data is thin.
• With a free account, saves your daily commutes and gives you a leave-by time for each one every day.

Where the data comes from

• Ruter's live network feed · Entur

  Every departure in Oslo and Akershus, read every 3 minutes: when it should leave and when it really leaves.

• Busy hubs · Entur

  Departures at the largest stations (such as Oslo S), including trains, airport express and other operators.

• Journeys and live updates · Entur

  The possible journeys for your search, stops near you, and the delays and service notices happening now.

• Weather · MET Norway

  Forecasts for rain, snow, wind and temperature, used to adjust estimates and to train the AI model.

• Our own history · TravelPlaner

  Everything above builds up into a track record for each line at each stop. That is what our estimates are based on.

We are also training an AI model on this history. It will only be used once it has proven more accurate than our current method. Read how it works.

Your privacy

• Your location: your browser asks first. We use your location only to find the stops near you and as the start of your journey. We don't store it, log it or share it, and you can type a start instead.
• Recent places are kept only in your own browser.
• The map is loaded from OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address and the map area you view, as with any website that shows their map.
• Searches work without an account and are kept only briefly, to show you the results.
• Accounts are optional. We don't store your name or email address: your account is a random ID with your preferences and saved commutes, and you can delete it at any time on your profile.
